OK, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been busy with another project that I’ve been dreaming about for a while and only recently have been inspired to follow through with. I’ve put myself futher out there and started a children’s ministry podcast. Some of you might be thinking, as would I, “Do we need another CM podcast?” Well, here’s what I posted on the blog site for the new podcast:
Does CM world really need another podcast? Aren’t there enough of them out there?
Well, the short answer to those questions is no and yes. No, CM world doesn’t need just another podcast. And, yes, there are enough of them out there. So, why does this podcast exist?
CM Edge isn’t just another children’s ministry podcast. We’re not here to teach you the latest in volunteer recruitment strategies. We’re not trying sell you on a new way to better organize your time. We are a diverse group of people who love what we do and love talking about it! Some of us are children’s pastors and others of us aren’t. What we do have in common is our desire to advance God’s Kingdom.
Each month at CM Edge you’ll hear about what is going on in the world around us (culture, technology, entertainment, ministry, etc.) and how it may affect ministry to children. We want to give you what you need to stay current and relevant and on the edge of of children’s ministry.
We hope that CM Edge is a highlight of your month as well as a blessing and encouragement.
If you would like to contribute any current bits of news or information for an upcoming episode of CM Edge, send an email to cmedge at zonios dot org.
The first episode of CM Edge is entitled, “What’s Twitter Got To Do With It.” I am joined by Kenny Conley, Sam Luce, Steve Tanner and Rob Tuma to talk about the effect social media and social networking has on how we do children’s ministry from networking with other leaders, connecting with volunteers and communicating with parents and kids.
The format of the podcast is a live recording that is more conversational and light hearted. We all met via a Skype conference call, and I recorded it using Audio Hijack. Being the podcast newbie, I failed to run a test recording of all of us before doing the actual episode so the levels are a bit wonky. I’m really quiet, while everyone else is loud… Sorry for that! But I knew that if I waited until I spent the time to fix all of that, the podcast would never get off the ground. (I do plan on fixing that episode some time soon.) Live and learn!
You can jump onto the CM Edge site and grab the first episode, or you can listen to it here:
You can also download it.
Be sure, though, to subscribe to the podcast via iTunes so that you receive the monthly podcasts as soon as they are posted!
